A little local lodging insight

If you’re planning a Philly trip, booking early makes a huge difference, especially around big events like the Philly Marathon or the Thanksgiving Day Parade. I also recommend checking out apartments near Rittenhouse Square – it’s not just scenic, but you’ll be right where lots of locals hang out. One of my favorite spots is a little boutique hotel on Walnut Street with a tucked-away rooftop bar that’s surprisingly chill and offers great skyline views.

And if you’re okay stepping out a bit, consider a guesthouse in Northern Liberties. It feels less touristy and gives you a solid feel for how Philadelphians live, plus some amazing coffee shops and little vinyl record stores you won’t find downtown.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about staying in Philadelphia? Here’s what I usually hear.

I usually suggest Center City, especially around Rittenhouse Square or Old City. It’s super walkable and close to most landmarks. Plus, you have tons of restaurants and bars nearby, so you won’t have to worry about getting around late at night.
Absolutely. Northern Liberties and Fishtown have some solid options that won’t break the bank. You’ll find decent hotels as well as Airbnb apartments. Just watch out for weekends when prices can jump, especially if there’s a concert or event nearby.
Depends on your plans, but if you don’t want to rely on taxis or rideshares, staying near 30th Street Station or Suburban Station helps a lot. Those spots connect you well to other parts of the city and even nearby towns if you want a day trip.
South Philly feels a bit quieter and more residential but that’s part of its charm. You’ll get to experience local markets and amazing Italian restaurants without the tourist crowds. Just keep in mind it’s a bit of a longer trip into downtown if you’re relying on public transit.
There are! Several hotels around Center City and University City welcome pets, and plenty of Airbnb hosts do too. Rittenhouse Park is great for walking your pup, so that neighborhood’s my top pick if you’ve got a furry travel buddy.
For sure. University City has a relaxed vibe with leafy streets and some cool local eateries. It’s a quick ride into downtown and perfect if you want something less hectic. Plus, if you’re visiting during university events, you might catch some on-campus activities.
