Mediterranean Restaurants in Philadelphia

Philadelphia’s Mediterranean scene is a bit of a secret if you’re not looking for it. There’s more than just the usual falafel and hummus here. Head to South Philly and you’ll find Zahav, a spot that locals swear by for Israeli flavors that hit just right, especially their laffa bread with hummus. Not far off, in Fishtown, Paesano’s blends Sicilian comfort with real Philly attitude, try their punchy caponata or the garlicky shrimp. And for a quieter night, check out Vedge in Center City, even though it’s more veggie-forward, their Middle Eastern spices make for a memorable dinner.

Oh, and a tip: If you’re visiting in late spring, outdoor seating along East Passyunk is great for Mediterranean dining with a breeze and street view. Don’t skip the small markets around 9th Street either; you’ll find spots selling fresh pita and olives that add to the whole Philly Med experience. So, bring your appetite and a sense of adventure, these places go way beyond the usual Greek diners.
